Hearing Aid Act Fee Regulation

Definitions

1 In this regulation:

"clinic" means a public health hearing clinic;

"outside lab" means a laboratory with which Hearing Services Section has a standing offer agreement;

"program" means the British Columbia Hearing Aid Program;

"unit price" means the price as determined by the minister and published from time to time in the Hearing Services Section Stock Catalogue.

2 The attached Schedule establishes the fees for the program.

Add fee to unit price of each hearing aid, FM transmitter or

FM receiver to determine retail selling price.

2 Battery

Surcharge
Add fee to unit price of each battery to determine retail selling price.

(The Goods and Services Tax may apply, subject to Chapter Four

of the Hearing Services Policy and Procedure Manual.)

3 Accessory

Surcharge
Unit price under $10: double the unit price of accessory items listed

as under $10 to determine retail selling price.
100% markup
Unit price $10 or over: add fee to the unit price of accessory items

listed as $10 or over to determine the retail selling price.

4 Acoustic

Coupler

Surcharge
Add fee to the invoice price (marked on the order form by the

manufacturer) of each acoustic coupler, hearing protector or

swimmold produced by an outside lab.

5 Swimmold

Charge

(on-site fabrication)
Collect fee for each swimmold fabricated in the clinic. $15
6 Lost Loaner

Charge
Collect fee from client or third-party agency when a clinic

loaner hearing aid has been lost while on loan.

7 Overdue

Loaner Daily

Charge
Collect fee for each day a loaner hearing aid is kept out on

loan by a client, past the date of expected return.

8 Hearing Aid

Child's hearing aid (under four years old) $30
Adult's hearing aid (under four years old) $45
•  Hearing aid aged four years and older

•  Hearing aid, FM transmitter or FM receiver covered

 by public agencies other than Workers' Compensation Board

•  Any abused hearing aid

9 Hearing Aid

Repair Charge -

Base Plus

Charge
The base plus charge applies where a hearing aid cannot

be repaired by the clinic and must be sent to the manufacturer

for repair and the repair charge is $125 or more.

10 Inclusion

Fee for Non-

Government

Hearing Aid
Collect fee for inclusion (for service) into the program of

any hearing aid, FM transmitter or FM receiver which was

purchased outside of the program.
$100
11 Reissue Fee

for Auditory Training

Equipment
Collect fee for each auditory training equipment device

which was previously purchased by the Ministry of

Education, Skills and Training and is being reissued

to a child for a new fitting.
$50
